About Olney Cross Country Club

Founded in 1975 by the Armstrong family—local parents and passionate running enthusiasts—the Olney Cross Country Club has spent the past five decades inspiring young athletes. With “Kelly Green” proudly chosen as the team’s signature color, the club has fostered a fun, supportive environment that builds self-esteem, discipline, and team spirit through the sport of running.

Today, the tradition continues under the dedicated guidance of coaches Vassili and Gretchen Tirantos, Anne Forsha, and Ken Trombatore—experienced runners and proud parents of Olney XC athletes. Their leadership honors the club’s legacy while shaping the next generation of runners.

Olney XC introduces youth to running not just as a competitive sport, but as a lifelong source of recreation, fitness, and joy. Welcoming runners of all abilities, the club has nurtured countless young athletes—many of whom have gone on to excel in high school and collegiate programs, while others continue to run in local races, for personal fitness, and simply for the love of it.

The club also celebrates the vital role of parents in its success. From volunteering at home meets to running alongside participants at practice and cheering from the sidelines, parents help create the spirited, supportive environment that defines the Olney XC experience.
